At Lodge Dental, we provide gentle, effective root canal treatment to relieve pain, remove infection, and save your natural tooth. Led by Dr Cameron Currie — an experienced dentist with advanced training in endodontics — our modern practice in Abergavenny offers expert care with a focus on comfort, precision, and long-term success.
We welcome both self-referring patients and referrals from general dentists, working closely with referring colleagues to ensure seamless care.
Root canal treatment (endodontic therapy) removes infected or damaged tissue from inside the tooth, cleans and disinfects the area, and seals it to prevent reinfection.
By saving your natural tooth, root canal treatment helps preserve your natural bite, appearance, and long-term dental health.
Signs You May Need Root Canal Therapy:
If you experience any of these symptoms, speak to your dentist or contact Lodge Dental for an expert assessment with Dr Cameron Currie.
In some cases, a tooth may continue to cause problems even after previous root canal treatment. At Lodge Dental, we can offer advanced procedures to help save these teeth whenever possible:
Root Canal Retreatment
If a previous root canal has not completely healed or has developed new infection, retreatment involves carefully reopening the tooth, removing any old filling materials, thoroughly disinfecting the root canals, and sealing them again to encourage healing.
Apical Surgery (Apicectomy)
In certain cases where retreatment alone may not be sufficient, apical surgery (known as an apicectomy) may be recommended. This minor surgical procedure involves removing the tip of the tooth’s root and any surrounding infected tissue through a small incision near the gum.
Both retreatment and apical surgery are routine procedures carried out under local anaesthetic to keep you comfortable throughout.
If your dentist has recommended root canal treatment, we welcome referrals at Lodge Dental. We collaborate closely with your dentist to provide specialist care tailored to your needs.
Please ask your dentist to refer you to Dr Cameron Currie — or contact our team directly to discuss your treatment options.
